Paul Sutherland was named Rotarian of the Year at the Rotary Club of Tryon annual meeting held at Tryon Estates.
The award is presented each year to the Rotarian that best exemplifies Rotary’s motto: “Service Above Self.” The award is named in memory of Joseph W. Wells who was a member of the Tryon club and served as district governor of Rotary International in Western North Carolina.
The award was presented by Past President Don Lyons who noted Sutherland’s many contributions to the club’s projects and activities, as well as his service and volunteer work with the House of Flags, Steps to Hope and the Columbus Fire Department.
