The Derby Dash 5K and Fun Walk 2012 took place on May 19 at Derbyshire. The event drew more than 160 attendees, and $2,000 was donated to Go Girls and the Foothills Humane Society.
Brian Carroll of Derbyshire recently presented the donation to Selena Coffey, executive director of Foothills Humane Society.
“We appreciate our valued partnership with Derbyshire and gratefully accept this donation,” said Coffey.
FHS’s “On the Road Crew” of volunteers was at the Derbyshire special event with several adoptable dogs. Jerry and Sarah Hinson, who attended the event, ended up adopting one of the dogs.
“My husband and I have been discussing for a while the prospect of adopting a dog,” Sarah said. “On the day of the Derbyshire 5K, we had no idea that we would meet Wolf. We instantly fell in love with him. He walked great on his leash, and seemed to adapt to our family well. After some consideration, we completed his adoption paperwork.
We decided to rename him Tux, because of his black fur and the white blaze on his chest. He has already learned to sit, shake hands, fetch and lie down. He is still a puppy, so his attention span can be rather short, but he tries his best.
We love him very much, and we look forward to having him for a very long time.”
Pictured here is Tux just as Sarah describes him. FHS and Derbyshire congratulates Tux on his new forever home.
