Frank S. English

Frank S. English, 87, of Landrum, S.C., died Friday, June 14, 2012, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum.
Born June 12, 1925, in Monroe, N.C., he was the son of John Roland English and Roberta English.
Mr. English was predeceased by his wife, Lucille, and brothers, Murphy and Bobby English.
Frank was an active member of Landrum United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart for valor. After the army he attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, N.C. He majored in business and worked most of his life for Belk Hudson. He was an avid bridge player and an enthusiastic golfer at Tryon Country Club.
He is survived by his children, Robert and Rebecca English of the home, and Frank Steven English (Teresa) of East Palatka, Fla. He also leaves behind two brothers, William English of Apex, N.C. and Cecil English of Monroe, N.C.
He is survived by one grandchild, Brooke English of East Palatka, Fla.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, June 22, 1 p.m. at Landrum United Methodist Church, to be conducted by Rev. Jane Jenkins. A reception for family and friends will follow at his home on 309 S. Lee Ave., Landrum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the property expansion fund of Landrum United Methodist Church, 227 N. Howard Street, Landrum, S.C. 29356.
