The Tryon Men’s Golf Association (TMGA) event for March 26 was a “mixed bag” format for each foursome: one low net ball on the par 5s, two net balls on the par 4s and three net balls on the par 3s. The results were as follows:
First – Rody Dayvault, Tom Wilkes, Joe Puma and Ben Woodward (61)
Second – John Albree, Chuck Huneycutt, Don Tyson and Richard Barraud (61)
Third – Bob Bolen, Jim Diggs, Cliff Joens and Norm Johnson (62)
Fourth – Chris ter Kuile, John Hall, Dennis Sakos and Hal Turner (62)
Closest to the hole – Hole no. 9, Chris ter Kuile
Watch Masters at TCC
It’s Augusta time, and TMGA members can watch the Golf Channel at Tryon Country Club and catch all the tournaments, including the upcoming Masters Golf Tournament. The TMGA has agreed to purchase a flat screen for the wall in the pro shop and the club will have a large screen in the Donald Ross room as well.
Play to raise money for PCHS golf team
If you are not a steeplechaser, come join TMGA Saturday, April 21 at 9 a.m. for a day of golf that will raise money for the Polk County High School golf team. The entry fee includes golf, carts, prizes and lunch. This is a four-person captain’s choice event, and you may make your own foursome or the pro shop can help form a team. Entry forms are available at the pro shop. TCC has been the home course for the Tryon High School and now Polk County High School golfers since the 1940s. Each August, the golf team puts on a fundraiser event for the club.
