The Columbus Fire Department will hold three public meetings to discuss a proposed fire tax increase to fund the hiring of a full-time staff for the fire department. The meetings will be April 3, April 16 and May 10, all at 7 p.m. in the Columbus Town Hall.
Fire department officials said they hope citizens who reside in the Columbus fire district and the Town of Columbus will attend the public meetings to hear about how hiring a full-time staff for the fire department will benefit the community. They said they would also like the opportunity to answer any questions or concerns residents may have.
