Tryon Area Plein Air Society to hold two paint-outs per month

The Tryon Plein Air Society (TAPAS) holds monthly paint-outs on the first and third Saturdays of the month. All area painters are invited and encouraged to attend either or both sessions in February.
Paint-outs are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 4 and Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. in Saluda. The group will meet at Ward’s Grill in downtown Saluda and go from there to choose area sites for painting. Painters are also invited to join the group at Ward’s at noon to have lunch before painting.
En plein air is a French expression that means “in the open air” and is used to describe outdoor painting, which has been in vogue since the time of the Impressionists.
TAPAS welcomes new members.
In addition to participating in and promoting plein air painting, TAPAS is intended to help connect members with one another as painting companions and to provide opportunities to paint local landscapes outdoors. The group also promotes community awareness of plein-air painting through exhibits and the organization of paint-outs.
