Virginia Ruby Parker Correll, 59, of 170 Melrose Lane, Tryon died Friday, January 6, 2012 in Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, Spartanburg, S.C. following a brief illness.
Born in Spartanburg, she was the daughter of the late William Virgil Parker and Ruby Blackwood Parker. Virginia was retired from H. B. Swofford Career Center as an administrative assistant after 30 years of service.
She was an active member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross, where she was involved with the Daughters of the King and the Flower Guild. She enjoyed cross stitching needlework.
She is survived by her husband, Boyd Correll of the home; one sister, Sue Parker Womack; one niece, Amanda Wheatley Warbington; two nephews, Todd and Anthony Womack; and two cousins, Perry Burnett and Mellie Motes. Also surviving are two grand-nieces and one grand-nephew. She was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Parker Wheatley.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10 in the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross, with the Rev. Dr. Michael Doty officiating.
A reception will be held prior to the funeral service Tuesday from noon until 2 p.m. in the parish hall of the church.
Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus.
