Keith White, assistant director of engineering, is always helpful, knowledgeable and prepared for any task at hand. No amount of preparation could have gotten him ready for the news he recently received. White has been selected as Employee of the Fourth Quarter and Employee of the Year for 2010 at St. Luke’s Hospital.
White accidently landed at St. Luke’s almost 16 years ago. After being unemployed for a year while attending Blue Ridge Community College for his electrical degree, White was helping friends paint the outside of the hospital building. He heard there was an opening in the engineering department and decided to apply. He’s been working at St. Luke’s Hospital in the engineering department ever since.
White says he enjoys his job, his co-workers and has a definite love for St. Luke’s Hospital.
“Everyone here is working towards the same goal,” he said. “We all want to provide an excellent hospital for our community. I love what I do and where I work. No two days are ever alike and my co-workers feel like family.”
“Keith is very hardworking. He’s a great guy with tremendous experience, and we are lucky to have him in our department,” said Glen Smith, director of engineering.
“He is always helpful, too,” added Brook Campbell, co-worker. “When I need him, he’s there!”
A life-long resident of Green Creek, White lives there with his wife, Marsha. When not working, White enjoys spending time with family, taking care of his animals, and fishing.
White received a monetary award and designated parking space at the hospital.
