COLUMBUS—Uptown Girl Salon has moved to a new space at 155 W. Mills St., Suite 10,9 in the Columbus Commons. Owner and stylist Annie Moss spoke about the transition and the 32-year legacy of the Salon left behind by founder Terri Owens-Campbell, who sadly passed away in January.

Uptown Girl Salon has a rich history in the community, having been established over three decades ago. Moss, who worked alongside Terri for 13 years, reflects on their enduring partnership.

“Terri was not just a boss; she was a mentor and friend,” Moss said. “We were truly like family, having spent so much time together.”

Terri Owens originally opened the salon and was known for her passion and dedication to the craft. Moss emphasized the importance of honoring her legacy.

“When I finished cosmetology school,” said Moss. “Terri reached out and invited me to work with her. It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”

The salon recently moved from its previous location on Sirmms Street. When asked about the motivation behind the relocation, Moss stated, “We wanted a more convenient location, and this new spot offers a great view and visibility. Plus, I’ve had a lot of new people stop by to chat.”

Uptown Girl Salon continues to provide a variety of services, including haircuts, coloring, balayage, keratin treatments, Brazilian blowouts, and waxing.

“We’re dedicated to making sure our clients are happy,” Moss noted.

Despite the location change, the salon remains focused on delivering quality hair services while keeping a familiar atmosphere. The new space is larger and more open, allowing Moss to create a welcoming environment for her clients. While she currently operates solo, she is eager to attract new clientele.

As Uptown Girl Salon settles into its new home, Moss is also planning to launch a new Facebook page to maintain a connection with clients. Looking ahead, Moss hopes to continue building her client base while honoring the memories and lessons learned from Terri. Reflecting on her career as a hairstylist, Moss shared her lifelong passion for the industry.

“I always knew this was what I wanted to do. I remember practicing on my mom when I was a teenager,” she adds.” Meeting new people and seeing their transformations is what keeps me inspired.”

For those wishing to explore the new Uptown Girl Salon, appointments can be made by leaving a message at the salon’s phone number. With a new space and the same commitment to quality, Moss invites everyone to come and experience the warm, welcoming atmosphere of Uptown Girl Salon at its new location.
