Polk County Democratic Headquarters hosts successful food drive

COLUMBUS—Earlier this month the Polk County Democratic Party had a wonderful turnout as many  volunteers helped work their monthly food drive. Many familiar faces, as well as some new faces attended the gathering while supporting needy families in the community. 

“The sense of community that filled the room is truly inspiring,” said Christine Silverman, a member of the Polk County Democratic Party. “Our community shows their compassion for others by donating, sorting and delivering food to their neighbors.”

This month more than a thousand pounds of food was collected and divided between Share Thy Bread and Outreach, local charitable organizations that help the needy everyday.

The next food drive will take place on Saturday, August 16  from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.  at The Polk County Democratic Headquarters located at 64 Ward St. in Columbus.
