Polk County High School FFA Chapter members earned top honors at the North Carolina FFA Camp Program in June, with their Blue team capturing first place and the FFA Banner for the 14th time.
The chapter sent three teams to the weeklong competition at White Lake: Blue, Silver and White. The Blue team’s victory marked the third championship in four years for the chapter, while the White team placed sixth.
Thirty-four students from eighth grade through senior year participated in the camp, which focused on character building, leadership development and recreational activities.

Each day began with devotional services, flag-raising ceremonies and calisthenics. Students then attended leadership sessions designed to enhance interpersonal skills before moving to competitive events.
Competition activities included water sports such as swimming, canoeing and water ball, along with basketball, volleyball, softball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, checkers and table tennis. All events operated on a point system, with the team accumulating the most points declared the winner.
The Polk County delegation included eight seniors, seven juniors, five sophomores, 12 freshmen and two eighth-graders.
