Polk County recently convened with representatives from the US Army Corps of Engineers and Ashbritt to discuss the upcoming Private Property Debris Removal Program.

The PPDR program will begin next week in Polk County. Applicants will receive a text message notifying them when work will begin on their property, approximately 72 – 84 hours before their appointment. Contractors will follow up with a call to confirm the appointment time.

While property owners are welcome to be present during the debris removal, their presence is not required. The PPDR is anticipated to be completed within the next 45 days.

For properties requiring structural demolition, work will be scheduled towards the end of this 45-day timeframe.

Approximately 10 crews will be operating in Polk County, working seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Please note that residents who did not complete the application process will not be eligible for this program.

However, Polk County is collaborating with North Carolina Emergency Management to explore options for additional debris management support.

If you missed the application for PPDR, please email the Polk County Public Information Officer at kcannon@polknc.gov to be added to an interest list. Include the property owner’s full name, address, phone number, and details about the type and location of debris.

Remember, the PPDR will only address debris on private property near structures or over-maintained areas.
