Tryon International to host Spartan Races

MILL SPRING—On August 2 and August 3, the highly anticipated Spartan Races will make their return to the Tryon International Equestrian Center. This event features a series of challenging obstacle course races that are designed to test participants’ endurance, strength, and agility.

The Spartan Race series comprises various race types, including the Sprint, Super, and Beast, each featuring distinct levels of difficulty and distance to cater to a wide range of fitness levels. 

Established by Joe De Sena, who previously worked on Wall Street, the Spartan Race inspires people to challenge themselves and adopt a more active lifestyle. The exciting course at TIEC features well-worn horse trails ideal for quick stretches, as well as demanding red clay hills and creekbeds that will significantly challenge participants’ agility.

Recognized as the world’s leading obstacle race series, Spartan Races are meticulously crafted to challenge competitors not only physically but also mentally. Participants will encounter a variety of obstacles, pushing themselves to discover their true capabilities and resilience.

The event features several distances: the Sprint 5K with 20 obstacles, the Super 10K with 25 obstacles, and a Kids Race for children ages 4 to 14. Note that participants in the Sprint or Super races must be at least 14 years old on the day of the event.

Each registrant can expect to receive a Spartan headband with their bib number, chip timing, and an individual race time. Upon crossing the finish line, participants will earn a Finisher Medal, a Trifecta Medal Wedge Piece, a Finisher T-shirt, a Finisher Beverage, and of course, bragging rights.
