TRYON—The Town of Tryon is reminding residents to avoid flushing or pouring inappropriate items into toilets and drains, as the town works to maintain its aging sewer system.
“Please be mindful not to put items down drains or toilets that do not belong,” the town said in a statement. “Our sewer system is old, and we are doing our best to keep it functioning until it can be updated. Your help goes a long way—for you and your neighbors.”
Items that should never be discarded down household plumbing include grease, rags, cat litter, and wipes, even those labeled as flushable.
Officials said being mindful of what goes into the system helps prevent backups, protects local waterways, and reduces costly repairs.
