COLUMBUS—The Columbus-based One Unit AAU basketball program wrapped up a strong summer season in early July, with all three teams reaching championship games at the A1 Hoops Finale, a two-day tournament in Greenville.

The 5th/6th-grade girls played in two divisions and finished Saturday 2-1, advancing to the Elite Division championship game and earning the top seed in their second bracket. On Sunday morning, they won the Elite title with a hard-fought 11-8 victory over a sixth-grade team from Charlotte. Later that day, they narrowly lost 17-16 in the second bracket’s semifinal to the eventual champions. The girls finished the season with four title game appearances and three championships.

The boys’ teams also impressed. The sixth-grade boys went 2-0 Saturday to earn the top seed in their division, while the fifth-grade team also went undefeated and secured the No. 2 seed.
