COLUMBUS—The N.C. Cooperative Extension office in Polk County will host classes this month focused on kombucha brewing and pressure canning.
Lindsey Edwards, Family and Consumer Sciences agent, will lead both sessions. The first, Kombucha 101, is set for Thursday, July 18, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Extension office. Participants will learn the basics of kombucha brewing, including how to make their own batch and sample a variety of homemade flavors. The cost for the workshop is $10.
The second class, Pressure Canning 101, will be held virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, July 24, at 5:30 p.m. Designed for beginners, the session will cover essential equipment, safe practices, food safety, and reliable recipe sources. A live Q&A will follow the presentation. The class is free, but registration is required to receive the Zoom link.
Space is limited for both sessions. To register, visit polk.ces.ncsu.edu.
