POLK COUNTY—On Thursday, July 3, the Polk County Department of Health and Human Services announced the resignation of Josh Kennedy. Kennedy has accepted a position with another organization, and his last day with the department will be July 27.

During his tenure as director, Kennedy played a pivotal role in advancing initiatives that benefited the citizens of Polk County. Officials say his dedication, hard work, and commitment to improving the community’s welfare will be greatly missed.

“We thank Josh for his exceptional services to the Polk County residents,” said County Manager Marche Pittman. “His contributions have made a lasting impact on the health and well-being of our community.”

In the interim, the department has a plan in place to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of services. Leadership will work closely with staff to fill the position until a permanent replacement is appointed.

The Department of Health and Human Services, established in January 2016, encompasses several divisions, including Public Health, Social and Economic Services, Senior Services, Transportation Services, and Veterans Services. The agency operates under the oversight of the Health and Human Services Board, appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.
