Newgrass band to perform July 11 during concert series’ 25th anniversary season
TRYON—Summer Tracks, Tryon’s long-running and popular outdoor music series, continues its 25th anniversary season on Friday, July 11, with a performance by Reedy River String Band.
Based in Greenville, South Carolina, Reedy River String Band brings a high-energy blend of Appalachian roots music, three-part harmonies, and rock ‘n’ roll influences. The group features Sterling Waite on fiddle, mandolin, and harmonica; Rush Morgan on guitar; and Mark Dye on bass. All three are veterans of the Upstate music scene.
The band’s self-titled EP draws from bluegrass traditions and falls into the “newgrass” or indie bluegrass genre, with songs that explore themes of love, loss, adventure, and camaraderie. The group recently returned from a spring 2025 European tour and has performed at major festivals including the Earl Scruggs Music Festival, MerleFest, and the Albino Skunk Music Festival.
New View Realty of Tryon is the presenting sponsor for Summer Tracks’ 25th season. The July 11 concert is sponsored by Walker, Wallace & Emerson Realty.
Summer Tracks features six concerts from June through August. All performances take place in Rogers Park in Tryon and begin at 7 p.m. In the event of rain, concerts are relocated to the Tryon Fire Department, located across the street.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Huckleberry’s will offer lite bites, desserts, and soft drinks on July 11 and August 22. Chef Sharone will be on-site on July 25 and August 8. Alcohol may be brought into the park, though it is not available for sale.
Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $10. The series is made possible by contributions from local businesses, individuals, and sponsors.
The concert series will continue on July 25 with Ashley Heath and Her Heathens, followed by performances by The Feels and Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters in August. For more information, including performer bios and photos, visit www.summertracks.com.
