TRYON—The Tryon Country Club Men’s Golf Association played a “Carolina Scramble”  format on Monday, June 30, along with closest-to-the-pin contests on both par 3s. Ten teams were competing for the win. The weather was hot, but the golf course was in excellent condition. The winners are listed below:  

1st place – Vic Ketchman, Tom Murdoch, Mike Burrell – 29

2nd place – Jerry Pospisil, Matthew Pospisil, Dave Hosick, Art Brown – 31

3rd place – Doug Gelbert, Roger Dehnel, Simon Turnnidge,  Mike Axelrod – 33

4th place – Brad Rakow, Tom Bolling, Ed Weatherby, Jim Diggs – 33 (lost scorecard playoff)

5th place – Mike Bates, George Torres, Rody Dayvault – 33 (lost scorecard playoff)

6th place – Keith Beaver, Don Jaeger, Bill Basye, Jim Shirley – 33 (lost scorecard playoff)

Closest-to-the-Pin winners:

#12 – Tom Murdoch – 5’ 9 ½”

#12 Forward Tees – Charles McKeller – 5’ 5 ½”

#17 – Vic Ketchman – 7’ 0”

#17 Forward Tees – Rody Dayvault – 5’ 3”

The Tryon Country Club Women’s Golf Association played a match play format on Tuesday, July 1, along with a low-putts competition. There were six teams trying for the win on a beautiful but hot day. The competition was very close as three teams were tied. The results are listed below:

1st place – Joyce Arledge, Kathy Clark, Heidi Shull, Reid Toth

2nd place – Stephanie Lyons, Cindy Caldwell, Mary Lou Diekmann, (BP) Reid Toth – lost scorecard playoff

3rd place – Marge Avery, Lisa Bjerring, Diane Torres, (BP) Heidi Shull – lost scorecard playoff

Low Putts:

1st place – Tracey Beaver & Marge Avery & Lisa Bjerring – all with 16 putts
