November 4, 1956 – June 24, 2025
Edmond Robert LeClair, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away at the age of 68. Born on November 4, 1956, in Salem, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Rene Wilfred and Monique Jean Moratille LeClair.
Ed was a proud graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School, Class of 1974, and went on to study engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology. A self-made businessman, he earned a sterling reputation in the construction industry for building high-end residential homes known for their quality, integrity, and craftsmanship. His work was more than a career—it was his passion and legacy.
When he wasn’t working, Ed found joy in the mountains and on the courts. He loved spending time at his home on Attitash Mountain, skiing with friends and family, or enjoying a game of tennis in the backyard. In his later years, after relocating to South Carolina, Ed spent much of his free time on the golf course, enjoying the game, the outdoors, and the camaraderie of friends.
Ed’s playful spirit, sharp wit, and sense of humor made him a joy to be around. He never missed an opportunity to be silly—especially with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He made people laugh easily and often, and his warmth and presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Robin LeClair of Campobello, SC; his son Joseph LeClair and wife Hannah of Newburyport, MA; daughter Amanda Chagnon and husband Craig of Concord, NC; and his youngest daughter Stephanie Bakanosky and husband Mike of Landrum, SC. He is also survived by his brothers Rene Alan LeClair and husband Gregory Case, Stephen LeClair and wife Terry, and his sister Nancy Civiello. He was predeceased by his sister, Michelle LeClair.
Ed leaves behind nine beloved grandchildren—Sienna and Layla LeClair; Tyler, Ryan, and Gianna Chagnon; Michael, Aidan, Tristan, and Gabriel Bakanosky—and one great-granddaughter, Isla Bakanosky. He is also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to two charities close to Ed’s heart: P3 Animal Assistance Foundation in Landrum, South Carolina, and March of Dimes, in memory of his late granddaughter, Riley.
