Polk softball trio earns all-district recognition

Three Polk County softball players earned recognition on the North Carolina Softball Coaches Association’s 2025 All-District 8 team in Class 1A.

Senior shortstop Mia Bradley, junior catcher/third baseman Junie Mitchell and senior pitcher/first baseman Sarah Vitale were selected to represent the Wolverines on the all-district squad.

Bradley led Polk County’s offensive attack with a .435 batting average, recording one home run, nine stolen bases, 16 RBIs, six doubles and two triples during the 2025 season.

Mitchell contributed with a .438 batting average while driving in 20 runs and collecting six doubles from her catching and third base positions.

Vitale anchored the Wolverines’ pitching staff and offensive production, posting a .413 batting average with 27 RBIs and seven doubles at the plate. In the circle, she compiled a 6-9 record over 101 innings pitched, striking out 91 batters while walking 27 and maintaining a 4.09 ERA.

The District 8 Class 1A Player of the Year went to Swain County’s Carley Teesateskie, while co-Pitchers of the Year honors were shared by Robbinsville’s Naomi Taylor and Swain’s Rylee Rawls.

Robbinsville placed five players on the all-district team, while Swain County had five selections and Mountain Heritage, Mitchell and Hiwassee Dam each contributed one player to the 15-member squad.
