The Tryon Country Club Men’s Golf Association played a “Texas Scramble” on June 23, along with closest-to-the-pin contests on both par 3s. The weather was hot, but so were several of the teams. There were 35 players signed up to play. The results were as follows:

1st place – Brad Rakow, Roger Dehnel, Chuck Reeves, Jim Diggs – 27

2nd place – George Torres, Nate Tzodikov, Jerry Pospisil, Mike Bene – 28

3rd place – John Schickling, Andy McIlvain, Mike Burrell, Simon Turnnidge – 28 (Lost Scorecard Playoff)

Closest-to-the-pin winners:

#3 – Jerry Pospisil – 5’ 4”

#3 Forward Tees – Rody Dayvault – 24’ 9”

#8 – Brad Rakow – 9’ 6”

#8 Forward Tees – Richard Barraud – 25’ 6”

The Tryon Country Club Women’s Golf Association played a “Captain’s Choice” format on June 24th, along with a closest-to-the-pin contest on #3. The temperature was in the high nineties, but one team was just as hot. The winners are listed below:

1st place – Patty Aldred, Deborah Carmichael, Jo Ann Silvia, Stephanie Lyons – 34

2nd place – Marge Avery, Lisa Bjerring, Nancy Hiley, Inglis Sellick – 38

3rd place – Joyce Arledge, Lib Mckeller, Diane Torres, Cindy Caldwell – 40

Closest-to-the-pin on #3 – Jo Ann Silvia – 15’ 8”
