COLUMBUS—Polk County Public Libraries is hosting its Summer Learning Program, designed to keep area students engaged over the summer school break.
“We all know how important it is to continue learning during the summer while school is out,” said PCPL Youth Services Librarian Jen Pace Dickenson. “Sign up now for the 2025 Summer Learning Program at the Columbus Library or the Saluda Library!”
Kids and teens can pick up a packet at the library that contains a brag tag to start their collection, learning goal bookmarks, and a list of learning goal ideas. Each week, children can set and achieve two learning goals for a new brag tag, a $1 donation on their behalf to local organizations Drawn to Help, Champions for Wildlife, or Foothills Humane Society, and an entry into the grand prize drawings.
There is also a summer challenge for adults, Dickenson said.
“Pick up a challenge card at the library and complete challenges throughout the summer for a tote bag and chances to win a gift card from a local business,” she explained.
As part of the program, Greensboro-based band Big Bang Boom will perform a family concert on Thursday, June 26, at 2 p.m. at Saluda Elementary School. On Thursday, July 3, participants can choose from the 11 a.m. or 2 p.m. Gravity Check Juggling show at the Columbus Library.
