COLUMBUS—Hands of Hope Pregnancy Center held its second annual March for Life at Stearns Park on Saturday, June 21, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The March for Life was organized by Joe Maimone, the business manager at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Tryon.

Hands of Hope Pregnancy Center Executive Director Michelle Flynn was presented with a check from the Knights of Columbus, allotting them $3,292.70 after a baby bottle drive that was held at Saint John’s Catholic Church over the last six months.

The organization provides aid to mothers dealing with unplanned pregnancies in Polk and Rutherford counties, including information on alternatives to abortion, with continued support for the first two years of a child’s life.

“It’s this that allows us to continue to serve our communities,” Flynn said. “Without the church, we can’t do what we do.”

Demonstrators walked from Stearns Park across town through the parking lot of  Food Lion, then circled back to Stearns. Organizers said the event was held to raise awareness of the sanctity of life and to raise funds for Hands of Hope.
