Alm earns Prep Baseball NC All-State recognition

Polk County rising senior Gunnar Alm has been named to the Prep Baseball NC All-State squad.

Alm was one of four outfielders selected for the squad following a season in which he hit .544 with eight home runs and 29 stolen bases.

Other Western North Carolina players earning first-team honors include T.C. Roberson’s Caden Davidson and Micah Simpson, Asheville’s Jay Secretarski and East Rutherford’s Malachi Dato.

Other members of the team delivered remarkable season performances. At the plate, middle infielder Coy James (Davie, 2025) posted a .605 batting average and a 1.222 slugging percentage, adding 15 doubles, four triples and nine home runs. Fellow shortstop and Prep Baseball All-American Game alum Josh Hammond (Wesleyan Christian, 2025) also impressed with a .471 average, 11 doubles and 29 walks.

On the mound, several pitchers dominated with near-perfect records and microscopic ERAs. Carrick Ryan (Voyager Academy, 2025) was flawless at 11–0 with a 0.43 ERA and 103 strikeouts in 65.2 innings, while Case Gibbs (Metrolina Christian, 2026) tallied an 11–1 record with a 0.67 ERA and 127 strikeouts across 72.2 innings. Left-hander Luke Hemric (Apex Friendship, 2025) posted a spotless 8–0 record and an eye-popping 0.30 ERA, fanning 95 batters in just 46 innings.
