TRYON—On Friday, June 13, the Tryon Downtown Development Association celebrated the grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony of The Studio Lounge, an addition to the Mirrorball Gallery located at 55 Depot St. The opening was well attended and met with enthusiasm from community members who appreciate the gallery’s outdoor patio space.

Founded by Alexander Page and E. Vincent Martinez, Mirrorball Gallery reflects their deep passion for contemporary and modern art. Both long-time collectors and philanthropists, Page and Martinez have dedicated themselves to supporting the arts community and engaging with innovative artistic expressions.

“When we opened the gallery a year and a half ago with Allan Casavant, we always knew this might turn into something,” said Martinez. “The potential was here.”

The gallery quickly became known for its carefully curated exhibitions and for collaborating with a diverse range of artists, curators, and collectors.

In addition to showcasing art, Mirrorball offers a variety of events and programs, including artist talks, panel discussions, workshops, performances, and educational initiatives.

“We believe in art’s ability to educate, inspire, and connect people, providing spaces for dialogue and learning,” said Martinez.

Wednesday through Sunday, visitors are invited to unwind in the Studio Lounge, enjoy a drink from the bar, or savor fresh dishes and desserts prepared by Chef Sharone English. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, featuring ping pong on the patio on Wednesday nights, making it a unique destination for both art lovers and casual visitors.

“It kind of happened organically to an extent,” Martinez added. “It really is an extension or reflection of our lifestyle that we brought to Tryon. Because we’re here twelve hours a day, we wanted to be in a really nice place.”

The gallery’s hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 12 to 3 p.m. The Studio Lounge operates from Wednesday through Saturday, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and is also open on Sunday, noon to 3 p.m. The Studio Lounge stays open later for special events, such as their upcoming Love is Love Brunch and Dance Party, scheduled for Sunday, June 29.
