SALUDA—The Saluda Veterans Breakfast Group is donating a new American flag to the Saluda Center. The group meets on the first Wednesday of the month for a free breakfast sponsored by Saluda Living In Place, a local non-profit organization that helps seniors in the Saluda area remain safely in their homes as long as possible.
At a recent breakfast gathering, one of the members noticed that the flag on the flagpole in front of the Saluda Center was not raised fully to the top of the flagpole and was faded. It was determined that both the flag and the flagpole rope needed to be replaced.
Donations from the group have funded the purchase of both items, which will be installed in a brief ceremony at 11 a.m. on Flag Day, Saturday, June 14. Members of the group, as well as board members of both Saluda Living In Place and the Saluda Center, will be present. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony.
The Saluda Center is located on Greenville Street, a short distance from Saluda’s Main Street.
