COLUMBUS – Local AAU team OneUnit Basketball recently competed in the most recent Amateur Sports tournament held in Greenville, with all three of its teams advancing to the prestigious gold bracket.
This Columbus-based basketball program continues to foster an environment where young athletes thrive, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship through weekend tournaments.
Currently, OneUnit fields a second-year 5th-grade boys team, along with newly established 5th/6th-grade girls and 6th-grade boys teams. The organization prides itself on instilling a love for the game while also mentoring its student-athletes in crucial areas such as personal health, competitiveness, and sportsmanship. Over the past few months, these teams have been actively participating in tournaments throughout the Upstate South Carolina region.
The 6th-grade boys’ team clinched 2nd place after a string of hard-fought matchups. Their drive and determination were evident in every game, culminating in a well-deserved spot in the championship round.
Not to be overshadowed, the 5th-grade boys also made their mark, securing a strong 3rd-place finish in the gold bracket. Their energy and resilience reinforced OneUnit’s commitment to developing competitive athletes.
Meanwhile, the OneUnit girls’ team faced stiff competition but managed to hold their own, proudly achieving 4th place in the gold bracket. Their grit, teamwork, and growing confidence promise a bright future for these young athletes.
