TRYON—New playground equipment has been installed at Roseland Community Center, just in time for the 32nd anniversary of RISE!, the center’s signature summer program for youth. This year’s RISE! program will begin on Monday, June 16.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Polk County Community Foundation and donations from the Kiwanis Club and several individuals, the playground received an additional swing set, a spinner, and a climber, along with benches and plantings. The park’s summer hours are 9 a.m. until dark. The security gates are locked overnight, and no pets are allowed.

RISE!—the Roseland Institute for Summer Enrichment— runs from June 16-July 3. The three weeks are filled with a variety of activities for youth ages 6-13, including workshops, off-site trips, arts and crafts, nature walks, and plenty of fun, along with the Juneteenth Celebration.  Camp director Latisha Miller has assembled an outstanding staff of former RISE! participants and other volunteers to deliver this year’s program.
