SALUDA—Preserving a Picturesque America will host a special fundraising art show this summer to support the recovery of Chimney Rock State Park, one of the areas hardest hit by Tropical Storm Helene. The exhibit runs through July 31 at Saluda Studios, with an opening reception scheduled for Thursday, June 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, located at 144 US-176 in Saluda.

“So many people who saw the devastation wondered how they could help,” said Scott “Doc” Varn, founder and executive director of PAPA. “This event gives folks in Western North Carolina and Upstate South Carolina a chance to support the recovery effort while enjoying an evening of community and creativity.”

Helene caused significant damage to Chimney Rock and its surrounding community. Businesses were swept away, and the park’s infrastructure was left in ruins. After more than eight months of repairs and recovery, Chimney Rock State Park is preparing to officially reopen on Friday, June 27.

To celebrate the park’s return and raise funds for its continued restoration, PAPA has curated an exhibit featuring works by regional artists capturing the beauty of Chimney Rock prior to the storm. Forty percent of all art sales will directly benefit the park. Artwork will be available both in person at Saluda Studios and online.

The opening night reception promises an evening of art, music, storytelling, and a special presentation from state park rangers, who will share updates on the park’s status and plans for the future. Light refreshments will be served.
