Motorcycle crash on Highway 14 claims two lives

LANDRUM—Two people were killed Monday evening in a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck on Highway 14 near the intersection of Oak Grove Road, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 6:25 p.m. when a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, traveling eastbound, struck the driver’s side of a westbound 2007 Dodge pickup, according to a news release from the SCHP.
The passenger on the motorcycle, Sarah Brittany McElrath, 36, of Travelers Rest, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Bobby Goode, 60, of Landrum, was transported to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead around 10 p.m.
The driver of the pickup was not injured.
Authorities said both Goode and McElrath were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.
No charges have been filed, and the crash remains under investigation.
