On this day of our Lord, May 30, 2025, Jerri Sue Griffith was called home by her Heavenly Father at the young age of 58 after battling cancer for over 5 years.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Gramling Methodist Church in Gramling, SC, with Pastor Rick Brown of Gramling Methodist and the Reverend Toni Belhu officiating.
Jerri is survived by her husband, Gerald; her father, Jerry (Anita) Welch; sister, Julie Gerlach; sons, Jeremy Collins, Marcus Collins, and Kyle (Cheyene) Larsen; and very special daughter, Jaci Larsen. Jerri has a niece, Jade, six grandchildren, and a host of very dear friends who have traveled many hours to spend time with her during this most difficult journey. She has lots of loving family and friends in the Greater Houston area as well as Upstate SC and Western North Carolina. Jerri is preceded in death by her Mother, Joyce Brautigam.
Born Feb 27, 1967, in Houston, Texas, she spent most of her life in the Greater Houston area until moving to the upstate SC area in 2018. Her favorite places were Galveston, TX as well as the Mountains of SC and NC.
Jerri attended North Shore High School in Galena Park, Texas, and received her Early Childhood Education degree from Lee College in Baytown, Texas, where she was also a cheerleader.
Jerri was passionate about her love for the Lord. She was a member of Gramling Methodist and occasionally attended St. Francis Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton, NC, where she taught pre-K and was a member of Daughters of the King. As a young Mother, Jerri raised four children and was a Dance Instructor for many years with her own studio. She also worked with the YMCA in both Texas and SC, teaching senior water aerobics and senior Pilates, among other skills.
The Family asks that contributions or donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospital. The Family would also like to thank the wonderful people of Gramling Methodist, St. Francis Episcopal, and the outstanding ladies of VIA Hospice for their help, support, and show of love during this time.
