Polk County High School anglers Banks Barber and Tanner Osborn climbed nearly 30 spots from their pre-tournament ranking to finish 22nd at the Palmetto Boat Center High School Tournament Trail Classic held May 2-3 at Lake Keowee.

The Wolverine duo, who partnered this season for the first time, posted a two-day total of 21.59 pounds. That performance helped them rise from a pre-tournament ranking of 51st among the 87 teams that qualified for the classic finals from an initial field of nearly 200 teams during the regular season.

The strong showing at Lake Keowee capped a solid season for Barber and Osborn, who consistently delivered top performances throughout the year.

For Barber, the event marked his final high school competition. The senior leaves behind an impressive legacy, qualifying as a Palmetto Boat Center High School Fishing Classic Finalist in all four years of his high school career while accumulating multiple tournament wins and top-10 finishes.

The Polk County fishing program will return Osborn next season, along with teammates Dakota Castauro, Wyatt Highsmith and Konner Huskey as the Wolverines look to build on this year’s success.

Gavin Varner and Joshua Sumner of Byrnes High School claimed the Classic championship with a two-day total of 32.64 pounds.
