TRYON—The Livery Pourhouse, the newest addition to Tryon’s dining scene, celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, May 10, following a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Tryon Downtown Development Association on Friday, May 9.
A small crowd gathered outside the establishment on Friday evening at 60 Pacolet St. to witness the ribbon cutting, marking an exciting new chapter for the community.
“It took a number of years to get the Livery Pourhouse up and running, but our family actually enjoyed the work,” said owner Mike Hrobak. “We’ve always been pleased with the support from the Tryon area, which pushed us through the tough days. Come, stop in. We’re glad to have you.”
Hrobak’s son, Jacob, who worked closely with his father throughout construction, added, “It’s exciting. I remember this place when we first got in it. Getting to the end is bittersweet, but we enjoyed the creativity that came with the build. Now we’re ready to see how it all comes together.”
The inspiration for the Livery Pourhouse stems from its barn-like facade, complemented by Mike and Mandy Hrobak’s fondness for horses, which led them to acquire the property four years ago. The name “Livery Pourhouse” pays homage to the historical significance of liveries in the area, where horses were once housed before continuing their journeys via the train station.
The establishment utilizes innovative self-pour technology. Upon arrival, guests are given an RFID electronic card to serve themselves from a selection of 30 taps, including 12 dedicated to craft beers. This approach caters to patrons’ impatience with long bar lines and ensures precise pouring.
The menu at Livery Pourhouse features diverse offerings such as charcuterie boards, flatbread pizzas, and desserts, along with Slovakian and Polish specialties that reflect Hrobak’s heritage. Food orders will be placed through QR codes at each table, enabling easy access and online payment.
The Livery Pourhouse is open Wednesday to Thursday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
