MILL SPRING – Carolyn Newman Greene, 76, of Mill Spring, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday morning, May 7, 2025, at Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum.
Born in Boone, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late W.C. “Jim” Newman and Gradie Mae Case Newman. Carolyn worked for the last 44 years at Kangaroo Caddy in Columbus and only fully retiring only a few weeks ago. She was a faithful member of Mill Spring First Baptist Church where she had served as church clerk.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Greene who passed away in 2016; two brothers, James Newman and Steve Newman; a stepson, Michael Greene.
Surviving is her twin sister, Marilyn Newman Owens of Mill Spring; one nephew, Travis Ruff (Shea) of Connelly Springs, North Carolina; two stepdaughters, Judy Hefner (Gary) of Spartanburg, South Carolina and Tammy Rainey (Dustin; one daughter-in-law, Di Greene of Columbus, North Carolina; nine grandchildren, Gracie Ruff, Michael Benfield (Megan), Carrie (Grayson), Jamie (John), Brian Hefner (Ashley), Stacy Owens (Bo), Rebekka, Ally and Garrett. Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m., Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Mill Spring First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will follow at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the church with Reverend Joey Pitts officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
