SALUDA—Members of the community can learn ways to become “bear wise” at an upcoming presentation at the Saluda Library. Mark Ray with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission will present the program on Tuesday, May 13, at 2 p.m.

Black bears have made a dramatic comeback in North Carolina thanks to conservation efforts. As bears expand into areas with suitable habitats, it is essential for communities to learn how to coexist with them.

Ray, a native of the North Carolina Appalachian Mountains, has been an avid outdoorsman his entire life. He will discuss how living with bears is part of life in our state and provide important information regarding these magnificent creatures.
