Polk County will kick off its 2025 football season with a pair of home non-conference games ahead of its return to the Western Highlands Conference.

The Wolverines will open their 2025 campaign on Friday, Aug. 22, hosting Chase. That will be followed by an August 29 home game against Newton-Conover, with Polk then traveling to Blue Ridge, S.C. and Patton to complete its non-conference schedule.

All four teams are familiar opponents on Polk’s schedule. Chase and Patton have played the Wolverines annually in recent years as part of Polk’s Mountain Foothills 7 Conference schedule, and Blue Ridge visited G.M. Tennant Stadium last season. Polk and Newton-Conover last met in 2022 when PCHS alum Steven Pack was still the Red Devils’ head coach.

Polk County will return to its longtime conference home in the Western Highlands in August as part of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s realignment process, and the Wolverines will begin conference play on September 19, hosting Owen. That game will also serve as Polk County’s Homecoming, with the 2025 Queen and court being crowned at halftime.

The Wolverines will then hit the road for three straight weeks, traveling to Mitchell, Mountain Heritage and Madison. Following an open date on October 17, Polk County will return home on October 24 to face Avery before concluding the regular season on Halloween with a home game against Hendersonville.

The Wolverines will take part in two preseason scrimmages, traveling to West Henderson on August 8 before hosting R-S Central on August 15.
