North Henderson took advantage of five Polk County errors Wednesday, turning those miscues into four unearned runs en route to a 5-1 non-conference baseball victory over the Wolverines.

The Knights (13-5) jumped to an early lead with three runs in the first inning and never looked back. Stash Spear delivered a dominant performance on the mound, limiting Polk County (6-8) to four hits and one run over six innings while striking out six batters.

Polk County’s offense struggled to generate momentum until the fourth inning. With one out, Alex Perry drew a walk and advanced to second on an errant pickoff attempt. Avrey Hensley, who finished 2-for-3, then delivered an RBI single to score Perry for the Wolverines’ lone run of the contest.

Nate Fagan turned in a solid pitching performance for Polk County despite the loss, allowing just two hits and four runs (one earned) over five innings while recording five strikeouts. Jayce Edwards pitched the final inning for the Wolverines, striking out two but allowing an unearned run after issuing two walks.

Fagan also contributed at the plate, going 2-for-3 to match Hensley’s offensive output.

North Henderson sealed the victory with insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Alex Hannah pitched a perfect seventh inning with two strikeouts to close out the game for the Knights.

The Wolverines will look to bounce back Friday when they host Brevard in a Mountain Foothills 7 Conference matchup.
