TRYON—The Tryon Fine Arts Center was recently the recipient of Polk County Community Foundation’s Mary F. Kessler Grant. The funds have been used to upgrade the sound console in the 315-seat auditorium. TFAC thanked PCCF for the opportunity to install state-of-the-art technology for its performers and audiences to enjoy.
“This new sound console will immediately impact the sound quality experience for the audience as well as for the performers,” said Linda Haynes, President of the TFAC Board of Directors, “Also, TFAC’s relationships with our arts partners in the community are very important and being able to provide superior technical assistance for plays and concerts is key to our mission.”
Sound console technology has advanced rapidly over the last few years. James Little, the technical and facilities director, recommended the Waves LV1 console, an industry-standard sound board used by many top musicians. The new console features 64 inputs, both touch screen and knob control, and can easily handle the larger shows that use TFAC’s main stage.
From world-class musicians, actors, and dancers to talented local actors, singers, and writers, the Veh Stage has been home to John Brown’s “Little” Big Band, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Ballet with a Twist, Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass, Annika’s Elephants (before its New York debut), stage plays produced by local theater companies including Tryon Little Theater and Shakespeare & Friends, Tryon Writers literary readings, Tryon Concert Association, and much more.
Upcoming Tryon Fine Arts Center Main Stage shows that will enjoy the upgraded sound equipment include the Tryon Fine Arts Center community favorite Chase Away the Blues, featuring blues guitar player Tinsley Ellis on March 29, and Songs and Stories with Roger McGuinn, founder of the groundbreaking 1960s rock band The Byrds, on April 25.
