POLK COUNTY—Caregiver Connections recently nominated Michael Clark for induction into the Second Wind Hall of Fame, and the SWHF board accepted the nomination. Michael was officially inducted at a board meeting of Caregiver Connections on Monday, March 10.

Michael serves as president of Caregiver Connections, providing support for caregivers and loved ones coping with memory loss. He has been on the board since its beginning in 2022. At St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, he never meets a stranger, meeting and greeting all as an usher for many years.

At Hospice House in Landrum, Michael befriended people as a Hospice companion for years. He also served on the Hospice Board, giving much guidance to Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, which led to the Carolina Foothills Foundation.

Michael moved to our area in 2009 from Massachusetts. He attended Ohio State and was a Captain in the Navy, and he served as a pilot. He later worked for GE as an engineer. He is married to Joan Clark and has two sons.

When not volunteering, he enjoys golf and target shooting and would like to be remembered for his love of country and family.

The mission of Second Wind is to identify volunteers in our community, sixty years and over, who have caught a ‘second wind’ and continue to contribute beyond retirement while others pause to rest. Second Wind Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) organization and welcomes nominations for induction.  Requests for nomination forms may be sent to carolbrowning72@gmail.com.
