TRYON—Foothills Equestrian Nature Center will host a basket-making workshop on Saturday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Led by Nancy Basket, participants will make a ribbed basket from pervasive vines and twigs. Attendees will learn to split Kudzu, form Wisteria into rings, lash them together, and sharpen Privet and Autumn Olive into ribs as they work to create their one-of-a-kind basket. Grape vines might come into play as well as the baskets are formed. Kudzu will weave the structure together into various shapes and sizes.
Throughout the workshop, the group will talk about Cherokee culture and stories. No experience is necessary to attend.
There is a fee for this workshop, and supplies are included in the fee. Advanced registration is required for this event. For more information or to register for the event, visit www.fence.org, email info@fence.org, or call 828-859-9021.
FENCE is located at 3381 Hunting Country Road in Tryon.
