Three Polk County High School Bass Fishing teams continued their solid season Saturday, competing in the latest Palmetto Boat Center High School Fishing Trail event at Lake Keowee.
The Wolverine anglers landed in the middle of the pack, with the team of Banks Barber and Tanner Osborn leading the way with a 46th-place finish. The duo reeled in a catch of 8.9 pounds.
Close behind were Konner Huskey and Wyatt Highsmith, who secured 56th place with a haul of 7.53 pounds. Dakota Casturao rounded out Polk County’s entries with a 68th-place showing, catching 5.9 pounds.
Saturday’s competition follows the Wolverines’ successful outing on February 8 at Lake Lanier, where all three Polk County teams placed. Barber and Osborn led the Wolverine contingent there as well with a 31st-place finish, while Casturao took 69th and the team of Huskey and Highsmith placed 90th.
The Palmetto Boat Center trail will conclude its regular season on April 5 at Clarks Hill Lake in Lincolnton, Ga. Following that event, the top 80 teams in season points will qualify for the Palmetto Fishing Classic, set for May 2-3 at Lake Keowee.
Polk County head coach Chauncey Barber believes the Wolverines have a good chance to qualify two teams for the season-ending championship event.
