COLUMBUS—Over St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the Columbus Winter Market was graced with greens thanks to Terra Lingua Growers, a community-focused agricultural company dedicated to sustainability and fresh, locally grown produce. Based in Landrum, Terra Lingua brings a selection of vegetables and fruits to market-goers.
Jessica Spiegel founded Terra Lingua Growers in Hendersonville in 2016 before relocating to Landrum in 2019. The farm prides itself on growing produce free from chemicals, strictly adhering to organic guidelines. Notably, Spiegel has opted against pursuing organic certification to keep costs down for her customers, allowing more people access to healthy food options.
“All of our vegetables and fruits are grown in a greenhouse using hydroponic systems and regenerative techniques in the field,” explained Spiegel.
Spiegel, who also participates in the Saluda and Landrum markets, noted, “While I don’t do the Columbus Market as much, it has a great customer base, and the market has a lot of diehards and repeat customers.”
At the Winter Market, customers can find an assortment of fresh offerings, including lettuce mix, lettuce heads, radishes, turmeric, Asian greens, tatsoi and micro greens. During the warmer spring and summer seasons, the selection expands to include tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and much more.
In addition to market appearances, Terra Lingua operates a farm store where customers can order produce for convenient pickup. For more information, visit terralinguagrowers.com.
“Our goal at Terra Lingua is to support the community with locally grown, healthy food,” Spiegel emphasized.
The Columbus Winter Market operates on the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., located behind Iron Key Brewing Co. at 135 Locust St.
