Staton earns spot on state coaches’ All-District squad

Polk County junior guard Bailey Staton has received All-District recognition from the North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association.

Staton, the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference Player of the Year, earned third-team District 12 selection. She averaged 16.5 points in leading the Wolverines to a 23-2 record.

Cherokee junior Dvdaya Swimmer was named the District 12 Player of the Year, joined by teammates Whitney Rogers and Joscelyn Stamper on the first team. A.C. Reynolds’ Peyton Harvey and Pisgah’s Chandler Lowery rounded out the all-district first team.
