LANDRUM—Over the weekend, Landrum reaffirmed its title as “Quilters Country,” attracting quilting enthusiasts from near and far to the Landrum Quilt show at Joe Cunningham Pavilion. Organized by Landrum Quilters, the event was alive with bright colors and intricate designs, bringing together a collection of quilts and a dedicated community.

“We’ve had a great turnout each day and had many compliments on the show and the quilts,” said Show Chair Ruth Pollow. “Our vendors did well, and it’s been a wonderful experience for everyone.”

As they entered the pavilion for the much-anticipated event, attendees were greeted with warmth and excitement. Quilting aficionados participated in the Viewers’ Choice voting, casting ballots for their favorite quilts.

The event showcased everything from bed quilts to art quilts, modern creations to themed pieces, and miniature works. Many of the quilts on display were crafted by talented members of the Landrum Quilters, who also play a significant role in serving the community. During the year, they donate quilts to seriously ill children and families at the Ronald McDonald House in Greenville and support Steps to Hope.

“I found out about the show from a good friend, and it’s been a wonderful event,” said vendor Patsy Winkel, who makes handcrafted pin cushions. “Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and the quilts are amazing.”

Delia Dorn, a Landrum Quilter and vendor, added, “My company is called Willowlark, and we promote and sell designs by local creators. And this show is really a labor of love for the Landrum Quilters, and I’m thrilled to be able to highlight local quilters.”

In addition to the main event, attendees explored the Landrum Quilters Boutique, which features beautiful handmade items crafted by club members. Enthusiasts could also participate in a Silent Auction and purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a quilt or a gift basket, with draws taking place daily.

Quilting enthusiasts looking for year-round activities were invited to explore the Foothills Quilt Trail, South Carolina’s second major quilt trail. The trail features over 50 colorful quilt blocks scattered throughout downtown Landrum. Each block tells its own story, representing the area’s history and community spirit.

The Landrum Quilters, backed by local sponsors, continue to promote the art of quilting and engage the community through various initiatives, making the annual quilt show not just a display of artistry but a celebration of craftsmanship and community involvement.
