This year’s parade will include participants such as the Mirroball Gallery and Men Without Jobs, promising a delightful start to the day.

The outhouse race will immediately follow the parade and promises to be a highlight of the day. Teams of four, comprising one rider sitting in the outhouse and three pushers, will sprint, stumble, and race to the finish line in an entertaining blend of fun and competition. Each outhouse, crafted and decorated, will reflect the unique spirit of its team, making for a perfect April Fool’s Day display.

There are several general guidelines for those who wish to register and participate in the competition. First, the outhouse must be on wheels, ensuring it can be easily maneuvered. Additionally, it needs to be large enough for the rider to sit comfortably inside without their head touching the ceiling. It’s important to note that all outhouses must be man-powered, meaning that no electric or fuel-driven devices are allowed. Lastly, participants must be 13 or older to join the fun.

Adding to the day’s festivities, a Trashion Show will occur immediately after the outhouse races, showcasing runway fashions crafted from recycled materials. There will also be kid’s activities along Trade Street and at Nina Simone Plaza.

“I’m thrilled for this year’s event,” said TDDA Director Lourdes Guterriez. “I look forward to seeing the competitors’ creativity and if anyone can dethrone last year’s champion, Pete Viehman and his team.”

Interested teams have until March 22 to sign up. For more information and registration details, visit tryonaprilfools.com/outhouse-races.
