LANDRUM—On Saturday afternoon, students from the FFA programs at Landrum High School and Middle School came together to prepare the Landrum Farmers Market for the new season. With support from agriculture teachers Eddie Williams and Jessie Hyde, fourteen dedicated FFA members spent their time spring cleaning at the Joe Cunningham Pavilion.
“The annual partnership between the FFA programs and the Landrum Farmers Market provides students with valuable connections to local farmers and agriculture-based businesses,” said Hyder. “When asked if we could help with a clean-up day in preparation for their opening on April 5, we were glad to participate.”
The students swept, dusted and cleaned the building, including the multiple bay doors. High school FFA Vice President Anslee McNeill and Junior Officer Adrian Fletcher led the cleanup efforts, motivating their peers and ensuring the job was done well.
“We are so thankful for these kids,” said the Landrum Farmers Market Manager, JoAnn James. “They assist the Landrum Farmers Market with various activities throughout the season, and their efforts are truly appreciated.”
Looking ahead, both Landrum High School and Middle School are looking forward to their annual Ag and FFA Day at the market, scheduled for October 25.
