Polk County’s softball team showcased its offensive firepower Saturday, sweeping both games to claim the championship at the Stott’s Ford Tournament held at Polk.

Polk County 12, Rosman 5
Tory Coile earned her first pitching victory in a Polk County uniform, striking out nine batters while scattering six hits in a complete-game performance against Rosman.
The Wolverines broke open a tight contest with a six-run fourth inning, all coming with two outs. After Mia Bradley started the rally with an RBI single, scoring Elizabeth Vitale, Coile reached on an error. Laney Littlefield followed with a run-scoring double, Junie Mitchell delivered a two-run single and Sarah Vitale capped the outburst with another RBI hit, helping Polk County take commanding control.
Coile helped her own cause early, singling and scoring in the first inning on Mitchell’s sacrifice fly.
Sarah Vitale led the Wolverines’ offensive attack, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Mitchell also drove in three runs. Kinsley Lancaster contributed an RBI and scored twice.
Polk County 13, East Henderson 2
The Wolverines wasted no time asserting their dominance in the championship game, exploding for nine runs in the first inning and cruising to a 13-2 victory over East Henderson.
Polk County sent 13 batters to the plate in the opening frame, collecting seven hits, including Sarah Vitale’s two-run single. Coile and Littlefield each crossed home plate twice during the outburst.
Sarah Vitale starred both at the plate and in the circle, going 3-for-4 with two RBI while pitching five strong innings. She struck out seven and allowed just three hits to earn the win.
Mitchell continued her productive day with a 2-for-3 performance that included three RBI, including a two-run single during the Wolverines’ four-run fourth inning.
The game included a lengthy delay in the bottom of the fourth when Miya Jackson injured her right knee while sliding into home plate. The contest was eventually halted in the fifth inning due to the run rule.
Nearly every Polk County player contributed offensively, with Littlefield, Kinley Waters, Mitchell and Vitale each collecting multiple hits.
Polk County is next slated to be in action on Wednesday, traveling to Cherryville.
