The Landrum Cardinals varsity boys and varsity girls basketball teams faced an abrupt end to their SCHSL 2A playoff campaigns following impressive runs this season. Both teams fell short of replicating their previous success, with the boys eliminated in the first round and the girls bowing out in the second round.

In a hard-fought battle on February 18, the Landrum Cardinal boys came up just short against the York Prep Patriots (16-11), losing by a narrow margin of 67-62 in front of their home crowd. Junior AJ Lindsey shone brightly in the game, contributing 15 points and securing 11 rebounds, while senior standout Benett Edwards capped off his high school career with 13 points.

Edwards earned recognition as the 17th player from Landrum to be named All-State, boasting averages of 15 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game throughout the season. The Cardinals concluded their season with an overall record of 19-8 and a third place in 2A Region 1 with a record of 9-3.

Meanwhile, the Landrum Cardinal girls began their playoff journey on a high note, dominating their first-round matchup against the American Leadership Academy Patriots (3-10) with a resounding 54-31 victory on their home court. However, their advancement halted in the second round, where they faced a tough Clinton Red Devils team (22-5) and suffered a 45-19 defeat.

With this loss, the Lady Cardinals wrapped up their season with a record of 15-14, finishing second in 2A Region 1 with a 9-4 record.

Despite the early elimination, both teams showcased determination and talent throughout the season, setting the stage for future success next season.
