Ghislaine Miller, 66, of Tryon, NC, passed away peacefully in the warmth and presence of her beloved family on January 23, 2025. Known as Laine by her friends, she was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on December 6, 1958, to Ernestine and Dennis Riley. Her mother grew up in Antwerp, Belgium, surviving the Nazi occupation and numerous bombings, where she met Laine’s father, a British military engineer, a veteran of the North African, Italian and Normandy Campaigns.

A few years later, the family moved to Perth, Australia, where Laine attended grade school. Subsequently, her family moved to Madrid, Spain, later to Waterloo, Belgium, then on to Montreal, Canada, finally settling in Boca Raton, Florida. As a well-traveled student with a great ear for language, Laine spoke fluent Flemish, French, and Spanish. She graduated cum laude from Florida Atlantic University, majoring in International Business.

Laine’s career encompassed being a fashion model, a flight attendant, a successful mortgage broker, and a small business entrepreneur. She married and had two children, Trevor, aged 36, living in Medellin, Colombia, and Juliana, aged 29, residing in Chicago, Illinois.

In addition to her two children, she is survived by her husband, Craig Germano, 73, of Tryon, NC, her mother, Ernestine, aged 96, and her stepfather, Herbert, also aged 96. Her father, Dennis, predeceased her in 2016.
